Zin is a musical digital instrument developed to explore more or less direct relationships between gestures and sounds. Its interface, equipped with infrared sensors, allows the control of multiple sound parameters, with no physical contact. The instrument and its usage are works in progress, which search a balance between expressivity and simplicity, formalism and improvisation, transparency and ambiguity.
Eduardo Patricio is a Brazilian musician and composer. He got his Masters and bachelor’s degrees in Music (Audio Production), both at the Federal University of Parana. He also has bachelors in Psychology at the Federal University of Maranhão. His current research interest focuses on the development of digital musical instruments for live performance. Eduardo has presented acousmatic pieces, published and performed in several conferences, including FILE EIMAS 2010 and 2010.
