Bjorn Erik Haugen - Regress

Bjørn Erik Haugen

Abstract:
“Regress” is a generative video made to emphasize both the aggressive aspect of video, and a deconstruction of the video media itself. The work is basically lots of blinking light, that perceives us to translate into pictures. The title “Regress” is pointing towards the making of the video, the translation of a videofile to audio and back to video again. This results in a totally different video. “Regress” means both a return to something and in philosophy a series of statements in which a logical procedure is continually reapplied to its own result without approaching a useful conclusion (e.g., defining something in terms of itself).
