This film is about evoking the idea of pixels using the iconic medium of our contemporary communication, emoji. We wanted to emphasize the existence of pixels because, as digital media is becoming more high resolution, we don’t recognize them although they are still the fundamental unit of digital media. Our team developed the software “Emojineer” that converts videos into mosaics with given materials.

“解像 – kaizou” is a media art group based in Tokyo that consists of an artist, a designer, and engineers. We experiment with digital audiovisual media and create artworks with technologies and computer science theories.
