Faith Holland

Another Way of Seeing (Starry Night)

It is part of a series, including stills, about Google Art Project. The video exploits the contradictory nature of looking at brush strokes close up as pixels and how experiencing digitized paintings on the Internet becomes a fundamentally time-based experience.

Faith Holland was born in New City, NY in 1985. She graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Media Studies in the Spring of 2007 after completing her undergraduate thesis titled Lovers’ Discourse: A Visual Feminist Re-interpretation of Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse. Her artistic interests include digital culture, beauty culture, and appropriated materials. Currently she is attending the School of Visual Arts in the MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media department and is expected to graduate in Spring 2013. Her work has recently been shown at Elga Wimmer in New York and will also be shown at Video Vaudeville in Brooklyn, NY, the Berlin International Director’s Lounge, and AXIOM Center for New and Experimental Media in Boston, MA in early 2012.
