Based on a Bolivian myth of Tunupa, a volcano whose tears formed the Salar de Uyuni (the largest reservoir of lithium), TEARS.OF.TUNUPA critically reflects on the production of an AI system and its hardware. At the same time, the tension between natural resources and digital achievements is addressed.
Lisa Reutelsterz is a Cologne based media artist and designer. She studied Design in Cologne and Japan and is doing Postgraduate Research at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne in the fields of data art, animation, and audiovisual installations. Moreover, she works as a video artist in digital theater productions. In her work, she addresses central social issues as well as topics of transhumanism, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
