Brit Bunkley – Pillar of Fire – New Zealand

Pillar of Fire uses its biblical reference as a secular metaphor for catastrophic climate change. The video is a montage of landscapes ranging from an abandoned Mesa Top Pueblo to the cold war era “iron cross” Corona Satellite Calibration Target ruins in Arizona. A digital collage consisting of 3D drone scans, digital animations, green screens, alpha channels and 4k footage.

Bio:

Brit Bunkley is a New Zealand-based artist whose art practice includes the proposal and construction of large scale outdoor sculptures, discrete objects, and installations as well as the creation of “impossible” moving and still images and architecture designed using computer 3D modelling. His work explores an oblique sense of paranoid, apocalyptic fear tempered with a sense of whimsy and irony.
