Susanne Wiegner – When Wishing Still Helped – Germany

The title apparently refers to the fairy tales of childhood “when wishing still helped”. A single tracking shot wanders through fragments of space and landscape, combining childhood memories and visions of the future to a surreal journey without a happy ending. The individual memory spaces are gradually permeated and alienated by the signs of future crises until they finally disappear completely.

Susanne Wiegner studied architecture at the Academy of fine Arts in Munich and at Pratt Institute in New York City. She works as an architect and 3D-artist in Munich, Germany. In addition to projects in real space, for several years she has been creating 3D computer animations dealing with literature and with virtual space. Venues where her work have been shown include group exhibitions and festivals all over the world.
