Nika Oblak & Primoz Novak – Border Mover

“Border Mover” on one hand explores physical and psychological borders, and on the other hand plays with diverse allusions, as, for example, ‘banging one’s head against a brick wall’. It also deals with the contemporary individual being, who is trapped in overwhelming technology and the routine of their everyday existence, which resembles the monotony of operating machines. A pneumatic mechanism enables a 2D video image to be transferred to a 3D space.

Nika Oblak & Primoz Novak have been working as an artists’ cooperative since 2003. In their art practice, which spans from video, photography, new media, and installations, they make a critical examination of contemporary media and capital driven society as they dissect its visual and linguistic structure.
Their works have been exhibited worldwide, in venues like the Sharjah Biennial (AE), Japan Media Arts Festival in Tokyo (JP), Istanbul Biennial (TR), Biennale Cuvee in Linz (AT), Transmediale in Berlin (DE), among others. Oblak and Novak have received numerous grants and awards, including the CYNETART Award by the Trans-Media-Akademie Hellerau in Dresden (DE).
