Playing the Keyboard

Playing the Keyboard explores how technology is changing and adapting human skill sets. Utilizing the double entendre of the word ‘keyboard’, the film depicts a pair of hands playing Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 11 in A Major on a computer keyboard, where it would ordinarily be played on a piano.

Sophie Popper makes work that straddles the intersection between storytelling, humor and banality. Focusing on activating the imagination of the audience, she uses video, performance, dance, costume, sculpture and the written word. Her work often considers accessibility, particularly accessible language.
